Confirmation First
It appears that accidental salvaging is occurring frequently amongst players and I too have inadvertently salvaged something simply by thinking my salvage kit was my ID kit, or I have used my expert salvage kit when I just wanted to use my regular kit.
And yes, I know we all need to be more aware of our actions but I think that a simple confirmation window should pop up asking "Do You Wish to Salvage that Item -Yes | No" or providing players with an option to cancel the action if so desired.
What do you think?

I think the confirmation window would grow on peoples nerves..
But MUCH clearer colors would help. Maybe the BACKGROUND of an item in inventory could have diffrent colors in it, depending on what type of item it is?

a confirmation window would be nice, but it would get annoying when you are trying to salvage a bunch of cheap items. the colored background would be a fairly good way do do it.

Ive played god knows how many MMO's and ive gatherd that people do get iriatated w/ the "do you want to delete this yes or no" pop up, i think the idea about a differnt color or a similar Idea would be better...

Yea they will probably slip a fix in soon on that one. Kind of easy to make a mistake at 4am when your dead tired, and just finished the same quest for the 10th time with ten different PUGs. (That last nerve was shattered around the 7th time, last three times you were running the quest in an insane fog).

Ooo, I like the background color idea. That would make my inventory organization SOOO much faster.

Ack, absolutely not. Unless it is an optional pop-up that can be turned off. I usually salvage loads of stuff at a time and don't want to see a pop-up for each item.

A few times i accidently bought whatever the first item a merchant was selling because I was double clicking on him. I think after the first click brought up the buy window the second hit the buy button. I didn't realize I did it and would then see some new magic item that I could sell for 50 gp and be thrilled that I had found such a great item off of the low level mosters I was killing. Until the second time it happened and i noticed that the item was on sale for 100gp with the merchant.
While a confirmation button may have saved me 100gp I quickly learned not to double click and to be careful about what I was doing. A confirmation message on everything that someone might accidently do would get extremely annoying very fast.

GW is lacking in the interface details dept. imo
A few things i think are sorely needed -
- Put a tooltip that says 'salvage' or 'identify' next to your cursor after double clicking one of those kits until you use it
- Buy back most recent item sold to vendor for price you sold it for ala WoW, allows you to recover from accidental sales mistakes
- Some sort of purchase feedback, like an animation or just a 'You recieve blah' message, that little sound isn't enough IMO
- Stack splitting? Is there a way to do this and I just dont know?
Hopefully future patches will start to address these sorts of polish issues

I would not mind a confirmation window on items better than blue. I've yet to actually salvage something I didn't mean to, but I have been very close. I also do not want to see a window everytime I try to salvage a common item.

The confirmation pop-up could always be an OPTION that people can use if they wish. A confirmation pop-up that SHOULD exist is one that asks if you're sure you wish to sell customized weapons/armor so no one sells their equipment on accident.

Another idea:
Have an item highlight in red when you move the salvage cursor over it.

How about the option to turn the confirmation window on and off in your options?
What happened to the advancement of moldable GUI's and controls since WoW, SWG and EQ2. GW took a big step back in this department, it's one thing to be straightforward and basic, but its the simple things that make the game more enjoyable.

That's an interesting idea. Have a seperate salvage box where you load up all your unwanted items, click "Salvage", and have everything salvaged in one fell swoop. I like it.

I would hate a popup asking me if i really wanted to salvage this item but i could see it happening some day to me too. I would propose the code it so it only ask on purple and orange items and any item that has a value >= 100. That would be alright.

This is way to annoying to be useful. It's not the rest of the game community's fault that you are a fast clicker who can't tell the difference between a red box/bag and a white box/bag.
